The Iloilo Scholastic Academy (怡朗新华学院) formal educational institution duly recognized, and strictly complies with the curriculum prescribed, by the Department of Education of the Philippines. The school offers subjects such as Communication Arts in Filipino, English and Mandarin; Mathematics; Sciences; Social Studies; Music, Art, Physical Education and Computer.

Background

ISA adopts the interactive system of classroom learning. It aims to help its learners build fluency and comprehension, which they will use to acquire knowledge on subjects of interest in a more independent manner.

By embracing the learner-centered approach of classroom instruction, ISA deviates from the traditional way of teaching methodology. The shift of the role of mentors from a 'teacher' whose job is to impart knowledge to the receptive pupils to that of a 'facilitator' whose concern is to provide guidance to the active learners is the cornerstone of ISA's education system. At ISA, the facilitators turn the ideal of 'laying the foundation for a child's lifelong learning' into a daily reality.

Objectives

ISA believes that when children become readers, their world is forever wider and richer. Thus, if there is anything the school will never trade-off that is to turn each and every ISAer into an avid reader. An ISAer is someone who is good in using basic reading and comprehension know-how, supplemented with hands-on manipulation and observation, to further explore the wonderful realm of knowledge, continuously enrich his or her faculty, widen his or her worldview and, most of all, be able to appreciate and respect nature and mankind.

An ISAer is a person imbued with social consciousness, scientific intelligence and global vision, armed with confidence and positive attitude that enable him the student to interact effectively with fellow citizens as well as with the people of the whole world.
